DPMM: Merging two brands

Dale Parizeau Morris Mackenzie: Turning the merger of two firms into a breath of fresh air

When insurance brokers Dale Parizeau and Morris Mackenzie undertook to merge their operations, they called in Bleublancrouge Branding & Design. The merger was a slow process with lots of relocations and restructuring, not to mention anxiety on the part of the staff. Faced with these challenges and knowing our clients wanted to speed up the branding process, we recommended adopting a new name to signal a fresh start. Slowly, Breva began to take shape. It started as a business plan, a new philosophy, a goal, a new development for the company. We chose a pinwheel as the new logo to represent a wind of change—a breath of fresh air in the world of insurance brokerage. It symbolized a calming breeze after a storm, much like brokers step in to calm the waters after disaster strikes. Why did we choose Breva? It’s the name of a summer breeze that blows over Lake Como in Italy. It’s poetic and reassuring. And the imagery associated with it is bright and colourful, quite unlike the insurance industry, to reinforce the idea of freshness and newness.
